How many of you Love the Dhoop/Fragrant smoke that our South Indian grandmothers or mothers infuse the home with during festivals? or even everyday in some homes?
I Love it to Bits!
I feel Calm, Happy and Positive. I am sure many of you do too.
So, Today i am reviewing Dhoop sampler kit from Omved which is currently discontinued but however, are available Individually in full sizes.
It comes with samples of 6 variants of which 4 are currently available and 2 are currently discontinued. They have introduced a new variant 'Mangal utsav' (for Auspicious beginnings) in the place of them both.
1. Omved 'Aradhan - Divine Meditation' Dhoop:
Price: Full size: 400/- INR
Ingredients:
Blended with herbs, resins of Frankincense, Myrrh, Benzoin, Sandalwood, Rosemary, Cinnamon, Rose petals, Vervain, Bay and a proprietary blend of pure therapeutic grade essential oils.
My experience:
It gives out a moderate sandalwood and Benzoin(Sambrani) fragrance with an undertone of cinnamon. Really love this variant. Because, Sambrani(Benzoin resin) is my most favourite dhoop fragrance and this is exactly that with a twist! Total repurchase material.
2. Omved 'Najarbutti - To ward off evil spirits and for protection' Dhoop:
Ingredients:
Blended with herbs, resins of Frankincense, Myrrh, Gum Damar, Benzoin, Sandalwood, Jatamansi, Nagi and a proprietary blend of pure therapeutic grade essential oils.
My Experience:
Again, this smells of Benzoin and Frankincense with a mild undertone of sandalwood and other herbs. Since benzoin is not the dominating fragrance and the frankincense is little strong, This is my Second favourite.
3. Omved 'Shuddhi - Aromatic cleansing' Dhoop:
(The other two variants in the picture have been discontinued)
Ingredients:
Blended with herbs, resins of Frankincense, Guggul, Cedar, Juniper and a proprietary blend of pure therapeutic grade essential oils.
My experience:
Smells a little strong and sharp. It could be Cedar and Juniper. Not really my type.
4. Omved 'Mashaka - Repel Mosquitoes and Bugs' Dhoop:
Ingredients:
Blended with herbs, resins of Lemongrass, Peppermint, Eucalyptus, Neem Leaves, Thyme, Loban and a proprietary blend of pure therapeutic-grade essential oils.
My experience:
Smells of moderate lemongrass and Eucalyptus with undertones of Mint and Thyme. I seriously wish there was no mint! Otherwise, i would've seriously loved it. :( As far as Mosquitoes are concerened, they just flew far for a few minutes and were back in duty in no time. :P If we use daily, it may be effective.
The New Variant: Omved 'Mangal utsav - For Auspicious Beginnings/Positivity':
Ingredients:
Blended with herbs, resins of Frankincense, Vetiver, Sandalwood, Lemongrass, Jatamansi, Sambrani, Loban, Lemon peel and a proprietary blend of pure therapeutic grade essential oils.
My Experience:
Have not tried this yet. But, This blend of ingredients sound so exciting(especially vetiver) that i seriously want to try it!
Overall Rating: 3.5/5
Do i Recommend? If you don't mind the price and want to try something other than the regular Sambrani(Benzoin), then definitely give these Omved Dhoops a try.
And also, after this great experience with these Dhoops, i really want to try the 'Parijat Dhoop sali' and 'Madhumalti Dhoop sali' sticks.
So, which blend did you find appealing? Please do share it in the 'comments section' below. :)
