DIY: Nourishing Ancient Indian Hair pack recipe for Healthy scalp and Hair.

A girl with no proper hair has something proper to share before it goes in to a lair....(rest at the end..)

There is no Indian/Asian in this whole wide world who doesn't know the benefits of Hibiscus, Fenugreek and Lemon. Right?

Hibiscus, Fenugreek and Lemon have been used in India from ancient times for the health of hair and scalp. They promote hair growth, Prevent dandruff and make hair shiny/lustrous. The ladies of that time had gorgeous hair which NO Modern Scientific formulations can give you.

Forget ancient ladies..My Mom and her siblings had super duper voluminous lustrous hair that anyone can die for! How? My grandma used to dunk their heads in many natural homemade recipes on a regular basis. But, sadly.. she passed away without passing on any of this knowledge to any of her heirs. :,(

As a child, i used to watch her make the shikakai powder in which she used to put these three ingredients without fail. Remember, only Country/Native Hibiscus works for this. Hybrid varieties and dehydrated petals are useless as they don't have that slime which provides norishment and also holds this pack together.

Fortunately, i have a Country/Native Hibiscus plant in my backyard and a few days ago, i harvested nearly 12 Hibiscus flowers. *yay* So, i am sharing this Simple Nourishing Hibiscus hair pack recipe that i made using my fresh harvest.
Credit for the Red glow on my cheeks and nose goes to those lovely vibrant flowers who radiated their colour on me. <3 and as a bonus, they even decided to slap a little of their yellow pollen on my face : D
You can also see that there are roses in between my hibiscus. I'll tell you what i did with them both together in another post. ;)

Ingredients:
  • 4-6 Fresh Country Hibiscus flowers.
  • A Fistful of Methi/Fenugreek seeds.
  • Juice from one fresh Lime/Lemon.
  • 1/2 a glass of water.

How to do it:
  • Boil Methi/Fenugreek seeds in water for atleast 10-15 minutes. Or, you can even soak them overnight. In this case, just bring the water to a boil and proceed to next step.
  • Once they turn soft and mushy, Add the hibiscus petals and turn off the stove.
  • Let the mixture cool down.
  • Now, add juice of One lemon and you can see the murky looking liquid turning to bright scarlet! Wonders of nature <3

Before lemon juice.
After lemon juice.
  • Put the whole mixture in to a blender and run it until it becomes a smooth paste.
  • And...it's done!
My artistic cravings peaked up when i saw a pile of ash lying in a corner. So, went ahead and took this shot :P How did you like it?

Apply to both scalp and to hair till the ends. Leave it on for at least 20 minutes and then wash it off with a good genuine natural shampoo. Condition if necessary. You will start seeing the difference right from the first use. :)

Note:
*Make sure to use Native/Non-hybrid Hibiscus flowers for maximum benefit.

* You can even add Yogurt to this mixture for extra benefits.
* Make sure that the mixture is smooth. If it is chunky, it will fall out.
*Use it regularly to see maximum benefit.

If you try it out, i would be really happy to hear your feedback. :)

P.S: This is why i did not post a colour version of this pic on Instagram. Doesn't it look like minced meat allover my head? :P And, this was the previous time i made it when it turned out all chunky. :-/ So, remember to make it smooth.
