Review:

Jasmine and Orange! I mean...'Orange' with jasmine! That makes it 'Refreshing' Jasmine! How Interesting, Weird and Rare does that combination sound? Intriguing right?

That's exactly why i chose this when they asked which option interests you.

Let me tell you that this product was the Best thing that happened to me in the past 1 month.

Yes. Because, No matter how weird it sounds, This is the most Beautiful combination i've ever tried! <3

Tangy refreshing Orange smoothly cuts the Headiness of the Jasmine and makes it smell so Happily Light, Sweet and Soothing. Jasmine is the Dominant fragrance and orange is also equally on par. The Jasmine in this body cleanser smells like real jasmine flowers and not like the headache inducing artificial one. That is why i am loving it to the core.

As for the Cleansing part, it foams beautifully and does the job right with just a little quantity. You can even use it with hands if you haven't got a loofah and it works equally fine.

Does not dry out the skin at all. Makes it beautifully Fragrant and Smooth. Sometimes, i even feel that it made my skin Plump and Glowing! May be because of the Yogurt enzyme.

I even used this on my face once. It felt nice and did not irritate my sensitive skin. And also, this way i could sniff in the fragrance much deeper.

I usually always hated body washes because they don't really wash off as easily as i like in this state of health. But, this one saved me on that part. It washes off fairly easily.

Rating: 5/5

Do i Recommend? A Huge 'Yes'! I am not really a fan of body washes but the "Seer secrets Jasmine and Orange Soothing Yogurt Enzyme Body cleanser" made me a Convert. Given my health condition, i always feel groggy and have a disturbed sleep pattern. But, Since i've started including this in my bath time routine, i am feeling incredibly calm, sedated and am slipping in to a Happy Break-free Sleep. :)

So, if you are on the look out for an effective Sedating and yummy Bath time Indulgence then, Look No Further because, this "Seer secrets Jasmine and Orange Soothing Yogurt Enzyme Body cleanser" might become your Holy Grail. <3

Review: Forest essentials Iced Pomegranate and Kerala Lime Silkening Shower wash Review

Today i am Reviewing The Forest essentials Iced Pomegranate and Kerala Lime Shower wash which was one of the products in their  "Iced Pomegranate and Kerala Lime Body care kit":
Forest essentials Iced Pomegranate and Kerala Lime Body care Kit.
Quantity: 50 ml.

Ingredients:

Review:

How about something Lemony with a soft decadent Pomegranate Twist when you feel like showering this time? Then you got to go and get this 'yum'ly refreshing Shower wash from Forest essentials ASAP!

I really loved this Iced Pomegranate and Kerala Lime Shower wash from Forest essentials right on the first day when i tried it. It bursts in to a foam of unique refreshing Scent which Energizes and at the same time Calms you down too. The Lather is light and airy and is pretty easy to wash off too.

The skin feels nowhere near dry and stretchy. Instead it feels smooth, Comfortably clean and moisturized.

The shower wash liquid is not red in colour anymore. They changed it to translucent white now.

But, one Drawback of this shower wash is that even though it contains Menthol crystals, it does not feel as Icy and Cool as the Body mist does. :(

Rating: 4.5/5

Do i Recommend? Yes. Absolutely. There might be many other body washes at much lesser price in the market but none have this unique Lemon with a twist of Pomegranate fragrance. So, i suggest you give this bath time indulgence a try. :)

Have you tried this shower wash? How did you like it? Share with me in the comments section below. :)

Will review the Rest of the box contents i.e., Sugar soap and Body cream soon.

Review: Neev Rose Olive Bodywash.

Here's the Second post for "The Monsoon 'Rose'mance" series :)
Above image: 30 ml sample bottle that i tried first.

Brand: Neev. Website.

Price: 30ml = 40/- INR, 100 ml =120/- INR and 200ml = 220/- INR.

<3 *clap* *clap* *clap* :)

Let's move on to the Review now...

Ingredients: Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Lye, Tween 80, Distilled Water and pure essential oils of Rose Oil, Geranium Oil, Rosemary, Palmarosa, Rose Petals.

Ingredient safety: 100% Safe.

Eco-friendly/Biodegradable?  I wasn't sure what Tween 80 was. But came to learn that it is a Bio-compatible non-ionic surfactant. It is non-toxic and environmental friendly.

Certification: Certified as per BIS standards. However, this is not useful for evaluating genuine natural cosmetics. But, after reading their vision, i feel like trusting them even without ECOCERT/USDA like certifications. The old product used to be Registered under 'Khadi and Village Industries Commission'.

Rose petal bits. <3

Consistency: Thin runny liquid.

Fragrance:  Strong woody Rose-Geranium.

My experience: 'Rose' fragrance on any label instantly attracts me. So, when i spotted this sample in the gift box containing soaps which i ordered for my sister, i just had to give it a try. And i am so glad i did! The strong Woody Rose-Geranium scent both relaxes and energizes my mind.

After the disappointing experience with Aloe-Lavender version, this was a 'scent' of relief. It lathers and cleans beautifully and does not dry the skin out. The fragrance lingers on for quite a while. The only drawback is it's thin runny consistency. Because, more product is required to form sufficient lather on the loofah and this way, you are going to run out of the product very quickly. But, if you use your palms to lather it up like i do, it will last long.

One time, when i bought a bottle of this body wash, it was cloudy and had a thick consistency.
You can see the difference in the picture below. But it worked fine. No worries... because, this is common with Natural formulations.

Sample bottle. New Improved packaging. These are super useful while traveling.

Pros:
  • That strong woody Rose-Geranium fragrance which both energizes and relaxes my mind. It does not fade after washing and lingers on for quite a while on the skin.
  • Lathers well, cleans well and washes off really well.
  • Does not strip the skin off all it's oils.
  • Does not irritate sensitive skin.
  • Budget friendly.
  • Eco-friendly and Bio degradable.
  • Simple, Safe and Genuinely natural ingredient list.
Cons:
Thin runny consistency. I wish it was more viscous.

Rating: 4.5/5

My Conclusion: I am on my 3rd bottle! That's how much i like it. If you are looking for a simple and no-fuss budget friendly genuine natural body wash that also smells really good, then.. just.. go.. grab it without any second thoughts! :)

D.I.Y: Moisturizing Vanilla Whipped Mousse Body wash

Are you hating a natural cold process soap that you bought with so much hope but isn't living up to your expectations?
or.. Do you love one thing about it but hate another? (like me)
or.. Is it just plain boring?
Are you feeling bad that your rupees went down the naalee(drain)?
Are you thinking of giving it away to someone else who you think may use it?
or worse...Are you on the verge of discarding it!?

Then STOP!

This D.I.Y is going to save you, your dear rupees and your fateful soap. Let's Upcycle it! Let's turn it in to something fruitful (or should i say.. foamful :D).

Ingredients and Equipment:
  • The fateful/boring soap. I used half a bar of the fateful Soulflower Milk Cocobar Soap. You can use an unscented soap to customise in whatever exact flavour you want.
  • Grater.
  • 4-6 drops of Essential oil. Your choice. I used vanilla, peppermint(used mint to freshen up the dull and dense milky odour of the soap i used) and a drop of patchouli too to spice it up a little(not pictured).
  • 1 tablespoon of any Carrier oil/Butters like cocoa, shea, kokum etc.,(if available). Whichever suits you. Since the soap was moisturizing enough for the chennai weather, i used 1 teaspoon of the light weight jojoba oil. You can use almond oil to 'yummy'fy it even more.
  • A bowl. Any metal bowl that can be used on fire will do. Microwave safe bowl if using it in one.
  • Water. Filtered or bottled.1 cup for 1 cup of flakes.
  • Fire/microwave.
  • Blender jar or hand blender.
Step by step instruction with pics:

 1) Grab all the necessary equipment and ingredients.:P :D

 2) Grate the soap to get flakes like these. Don't use a grater with tiny holes because the soap's going to get pasty and will clog the tiny holes. Use the medium or big holes of the grater.

This is the answer for "Guess The Post! A Tub Full of Curls.." Yes..those were the grated soap flakes which i used to make this bodywash :)

3) Measure them with a bowl to get an idea on how much water to use in the next step. I got 3 small cups worth and so i used same amount of water measured with that very same cup. If you want a heavy and dense consistency of the finished product then just reduce the amount of water used to 3/4th or half.

4) Bring the water to a boil.

5) Turn off the stove/microwave and put soap flakes in the boiled water. Let it sit for a few minutes and keep stirring every now and then. If there are any unmelted flakes then you can heat the mixture in low flame/microwave it for another minute or two and stir again.

Warning: Do not, under any circumstances, use high flame to boil the mixture. Because, it will foam up and overflow. And also, it will damage the texture of any butters present in the soap(just like in chocolate).

After the soap flakes have melted completely.

After letting it sit for half an hour. You can notice that the mixture has thickened as it cooled down.

See the egg yolk kind of consistency? That is what we need to achieve.

6) Put the mixture in a blender along with whatever additional essential oils and carrier oils or butters you've decided to use. Whip it for 30 seconds or more until you achieve the whipped thick milkshake consistency or a dense 'mousse'ey consistency if less water is used.

Note: If you're using butters, melt them properly before use.

It looks a little thin at this stage but is going to set after a day.

After a day, it sets to a light airy mousse. See the pic below. I made the mistake of pouring it in a tall tupperware container which made it super difficult to get the set body wash out. I had to start a violent shaking spree everytime i needed to use it. So, it's best if you store this in a jar as it will make it easier to scoop out however much you need.

As i went on violently shaking spree everyday, it affected the 'set mousse' consistency and thinned it out. See it in the below pic.

That's it! Fateful to Fruitful/Foamful! Now grab the loofah or just use the good ol' hands and foam away to glory :)

You can even make an antibacterial liquid hand soap using this recipe.Just add an essential oil which has antibacterial properties like Tea tree, Thyme, Eucalyptus, Lavender and many more.

You can also try this D.I.Y recipe with the leftover soap bits.Since you can't grate them, just cut them up to small bits and follow the same procedure.

Try this recipe in whatever combo you fancy. The possibilities are endless. Experiment. Have fun. This is going to be a super fun project to do in holidays/weekends with your friends/family.

Happy Upcycling :)

If you make your own version of this body wash, please share your experience with me. :)

Neev Aloe Lavender Bodywash Review

Brand: Neev.

Price: Used to be Rs.85/- Now Rs.120/-

Quantity: 100 ml.

Ingredients: Olive oil, Fresh Aloe vera extract, Lye, Distilled water, and Scented with pure essential oils of Lavender, Rosewood oil and patchouli.

Ingredient safety: Safe.

 Swatch

Consistency: Thin runny liquid.

Fragrance:  Sharp patchouli-Lavender with hints of Rosewood.

Packaging: sturdy but not travel friendly because of the cap.

Certification: Registered under 'Khadi and Village Industries Commission'.

 Filled to the brim!

My experience:  I bought this body wash mainly because it was budget friendly and had a simple,no-fuss ingredient list. It lathers really well. Unlike conventional SLS containing body washes, the lather is airy and light weight and washes off easily. I like how it cleans the skin without stripping it off all its natural oil.You may even skip the body lotion unless you live in a dry climate or have dry skin. The fragrance is the main put-off factor for me because i am not a big fan of lavender & patchouli and this body wash has a very strong scent of both. I would've loved it if it was mild and soothing.

Pros:
  • Budget friendly.
  • Simple, natural and safe ingredient list.
  • Lathers well and washes off easily.
  • Cleans skin without stripping it off all its natural oil.
Cons:
  • Sharp strong fragrance. Not an issue if you love lavender and patchouli.

Rating: 3.5/5

My Conclusion: I will not repurchase this because of its fragrance. Otherwise,it a good budget friendly natural bodywash. Go for it if you love lavender and patchouli scent.

Have you used this bodywash? How was your experience? Share it in the comments below.
