The Thirst for Best and Worst of 2018.

2018 is coming to an End and I am very Excited about the New Beginnings with 2019!(will announce it soon) Yayyy! Now, who doesn't get excited with the 'Best' and 'Worst' lists and conclusions!? Best and Worst Movie of 2018, Best and Worst Gadgets of 2018, Best and Worst Cars of 2018, Best and Worst Diets of 2018, Best and Worst Smartphone Trends of 2018, Everything Best and Worst of 2018...... But wait, You were Expecting a "Best and Worst Natural Beauty and Lifestyle products of India 2018 Round-up" from Me Right? Infact, that is what anyone would expect that from any Beauty Blogger. But, i decided to Swim Against the Current! Because, just like that fish in the picture below, A Truth Flashed in my mind.

First, i thought i will do a Best and Worst of 2018 breakdown but, later when i was about to list them all, a Question Flashed in my head: Is there ever an 'Absolute' for Best? Can that Thirst for 'The Best' ever be Quenched? Nah...Not really. The WAR will Forever be ON! For example: Some people Love Eggnog whereas some people Loathe it(i am one of them). Some people Love Ranveer Singh(i am one of them) and some people Loathe him! So, It's always "To Each His Own". Agree?

I am not telling this Randomly but by my Experience. Because, all these products were 'Best' for me in one climatic/water condition but when i used them in other climatic/water conditions, they weren't really 'The Best' ones. And sometimes, a product dearly loved by my friend or family member was an Absolute nightmare for me! Every one of you might have gone through similar experiences. Right? So, i decided to provide a link to all the products that i Loved at one point or the other and Let YOU DECIDE what could be THE BEST for YOU according to your preference and the conditions you live in. And, since this post has a political vibe to it, let me make it clear that i am not against any blogger who chooses to do the Best and Worst listings. This was just My Personal Choice. Do Not Miss the End. ;)

Here is the picture of all products without that huge red sticker:

Bon Lip Stain/Tint - Strawberries(Red) Review. A product that any Natural beauty Lover Couldn't Live Without!

*A Giveaway of this product is going on right now. Click HERE to Enter*

Review and Lip Swatches of the Amazingly Pigmented, Vivid and 100% Natural 'BON Auroville Lip Stain/Tint Strawberries(Red)'.

Finally, here it is! The post which was getting constantly postponed: PRODUCT OF THE YEAR 2017: "BON ORGANICS - LIP BALM STAIN/TINT."

Now you might be thinking: "But... the year has just begun!!!"

Let me clarify...

This product is so amazing that i declared it the Star Product for the whole year 2017 and may even hold the crown for the coming years ! Read on to know why.

If you are a natural/clean beauty enthusiast living in India, you definitely know how impossible it is to find a 100% natural lip colour, especially Red, that is highly pigmented and vivid.

But, now you can do a happy dance! Because, I present to you... The one and only 100% Natural Red Lip stain from BON-Bio Organic Natural. It is coloured with Dried Beetroot powder and Saffron. And it doubles up as Cheek stain too!

About the brand: BON - Bio Organic & natural is a Genuine Indian natural brand that is aimed towards greater good just like the town of their origin - 'Auroville'.

In simple words, as they say: "This is not just a range of personal care products on the shelf, but a conscious way of living, an archaic way of life for everyone."

Their motto: "For Everyone". Even when their genuine ingredients are really expensive, they price their products as less as possible and sometimes even off the MRP!!! so that everyone could afford it! Can you believe that!?

What an Utopia this world would be if it was filled with these kind of people! right?

Let's jump to the looooong review now! :P :D

FYI: In the Swatch pics, i have absolutely no base makeup on my face because, as you may know, my energy reserves are too low and the credit goes to: #MultipleSclerosis. Just wore 'Soultree kajal - Rich loam' on my upper lash line so that i don't look like a grey zombie or something. :P :D In case somebody wants to judge, you may very happily do so. :)

Review:

Sick of dull and drab Mineral lip colours available in India? Then, here's something that you will treasure forever!

Price: 436/- INR for 8 grams.

Ingredients:

Shea Butter (Vitellaria paradoxa), Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao), BON Pure Aloe Vera Gel (Aloe barbadensis), Coconut Oil (Cocos nucifera), Sweet Almond Oil (Prunus dulcis), Cruelty Free Bees- wax (Certified), Essential Oil of Vanilla blended with Ess- ential Oils of either Roses or Strawberry, and dried Beetroot powder & Saffron for colour. No Fragrances, No Harsh Chemicals, No Alcohol, No Animal Testing, No Parabens or Sulfates.

The tub is tiny so, the print was also tiny and unclear. That's why no pic. Sorry.

 My experience:

When i first stumbled up on this product while placing my regular aloe vera gel and soaps order, i did not give it much attention because, i thought it was like any other regular mildly tinted natural lipbalm which would never show up on my grey lifeless lips. I was content with my Forest essentials 'Sugared Rose petal' lip balm. And then one day, they posted an instagram pic which said: "Stain your Lips - Shop. Stain. Pout. Snap. Post & Win."

And, that intrigued me! But, i was still hesitating because, it was made out of beets and beet juice always made my lips look as if they are bruised and dead.

I finally went on and bought the Red 'Strawberries' variant. Because, since they are pigmented with beetroot, i thought the Pink 'Roses' variant would be too purple/mauve like the beet juice that never suits me.

After i recieved it, i opened the jar to find a solid opaque cool toned red balm in there. There was absolutely no translucence! which usually is the case with natural tinted balms. The balm itself was Hard textured but when i swirled my finger on it a few times, it softened with the warmth of it.You can see the cool undertone of the red balm in this pic.

The Shade: A highly pigmented Red with a slight cool undertone. Here, Saffron is what makes this product really unique. Because, usually, lip colours made with beetroot pigment have that purple undertone which does not easily suit us yellow skinned Asians. But, in this product, the addition of warm saffron pigment cuts out that purple undertone.

I was insanely excited after seeing that there was no purple cast and immediately applied it on my lips. After applying, i was really happy with how the colour showed up just with a single layer.

After a few minutes, i applied a second layer. This time, the colour was even more saturated.*yay*

And then, i layered again for the third time. This time, my joy knew no bounds! Oh my daydreams! The colour was so saturated and vivid, that, for a second i thought i was daydreaming! It was highly saturated at this point and gave a beautiful vivid cool toned red(imagine MAC Ruby woo) colour to my lips. You can also see how strongly it stained my finger!

It gives a glossy finish when freshly applied. But, after a while, the butters/oils in the balm gets absorbed by your lips and leaves a satin finish. The below pic shows it's rich buttery texture.

Here's a pic taken in different lighting and angle that shows the Satin finish and the true intensity of the stain/tint. Don't ya love it? (I edited out only the odd and ugly shadows on my face. Never touched the lips. Trust me!)

Here's a mobile picture showing me wearing the stain on my cousin's wedding. You can see how it matches the vivid red colour on my dress.

It does not fade off that easily. Here's the proof:
This was at my cousin's wedding reception. And the pic was taken after having super greasy food at dinner. As you can see, it did not disappear like every one else's regular lip colours did.

This was me with a bed head and a hint of stain left on my lips even after waking up and brushing teeth the next day. Now you know the staying power of this Stain!

This product has only one familiar drawback which is common with all lip stains: After a while, It dries up the lips like hel*! So, a heavy duty lip scrub and lip balm before and after application is must.

And one more thing to do with care is the application. Like with any lip stain, If you do not put a little extra time in applying this properly, you will end up saturating a lot of colour only on the inner rim of  your lips. Imagine paan/betel leaf aftermath. :P

This doubles up as Cheek stain too! But, remember to blend it out carefully. Or else, you will be left with clown cheeks. :P It adheres to the skin so strongly that you will not even be able to wipe it off.

They give a generous 8 grams of product and it lasts super long! I've swirled my finger in it vigorously for nearly 100+ times and there's barely any dent in it. So, Super value product this is.

I am skipping the pros and cons section for this product.Because, it's really difficult to sum it up like that. To appreciate it truly, you better read the full post.

My Rating: Infinite/Infinite. Because, i would be doing injustice to this product if i measure it's value in numbers.

It's Priceless. Especially for us Indians.

If you are an Indian or anyone from any corner of the world on an Eternal search for That 'One' Natural Makeup product that you will cherish forever, Then don't Live without this one.

That's how i can truly sum it up.

This Cruelty free All Natural Vivid Red lip stain from BON will remain the Star product of my vanity forever ! <3

For the list along with scientific names, go HERE and click on the 'details' section.

Never saw ingredients as versatile as these. *in love! like, toooootally*

psst... with so much fruit in the list, how about making a shadow dessert? :P :D

Packaging: Comes sealed in a shrink wrap and casing is made of clear sturdy plastic. Both made from post consumer recycled material.
Print: Printed with safe, non toxic vegetable ink.

Shade: It is a pearl finish gunmetal gray with undertones of a real ripe fig inside out i.e., brown, plum and copper undertones. It is a very versatile shade of gray which is rarely available in natural formulations.

Pigmentation: Fairly pigmented but not as saturated as it's conventional counterparts coloured with synthetic dyes.

Texture: Buttery smooth and highly blendable.

Swatch: 1. Single layer blended out without base. 2. Layered twice on a blended out base of RMS beauty 'un' cover-up.

See the copper pearl?

My experience: I bought this eye shadow from ariva.com purely based on it's ingredients. I was so curious to see how a powder eye shadow pigmented from fruit performs and i must say that i was really impressed on how well it did. At first, i was disappointed on how faintly gray it turned out on my skin but when i tried it with a thin layer of blended out RMS beauty 'un' cover-up as a base to grab the pigment, it really showed it's true colour. On a black base it looks even more fantastic. The shade is very versatile and suits many Indian skin tones.

However, it does not show up that well on dark skin tones and hence properly useful only on fair to fair medium skin tones. It has a buttery smooth texture and blends out super easy. Fall out is minimal. It does not irritate dry lids as it contains nourishing oils and butters. It works great as a metallic liner when layered on black kohl/liner and also makes regular smoky eyes interesting. This shade complements brown and green eyes beautifully. The only minus point is that it does not last long on oily lids. It fades out after 1-2 hrs and i had to touch it up a little. A good primer is must.

Pros:
  • Made with 100% natural origin and organic ingredients.
  • Coloured completely with fruit based pigments and mica.
  • Versatile shade which is rarely available in cosmetics with natural formulations.
  • Suits many fair-fair medium Indian skin tones.
  • Fairly pigmented for a naturally formulated product.
  • Safe and Completely free of chemical based dyes.
  • Contains no harmful preservatives.
  • Bio-degradable.
  • Eco-friendly on all levels.

Cons:
  • Pigment is not as saturated as i would like in a dark coloured eye shadow and it does not show up on dark skin tones. I hope they'll work on it.
  • Fades out quickly if you have oily lids.
  • Availability. Not available in India. You can find it on ariva.com which ships to India. Easy to find 100% pure products if you live in U.S or Singapore.

My Rating: 3.75/5

My conclusion: There is no brand out there which colours it's makeup with fruit and so this, you can't miss. They say their products are 'Health food for our skin' and i won't deny it. Go grab it if you are on the lookout for natural formulated eco-friendly makeup that really works. Now i am eyeing and dying to get my hands on the shades Golden honey, Hazelnut, Cashmere and Pewter.

I also have the shade Toffee and will review it soon :)

And also lookout for my future reviews of some more makeup products from this brand that i possess!

Review: RMS Beauty"Un" Cover-up #33

Hey fellas! Have you not entered the 4th bloggiversary giveaway yet? Then click Here
Open only till 12th feb 12:00 AM! Hurry!

"Un" cover-up sounds very "un"fit and almost ironic for a foundation/concealer product like this... Right? But, decide for yourself after you read why they named it that and if it stands up to it.

From RMS Beauty website: Formulated to reveal and enhance healthier looking skin…not just cover it up. Completely lightweight and hydrating to the skin, the '"Un" Cover-up will reveal more youthful and radiant skin. Minimizes the appearance of pores and rejuvenates the skin.

Use as a foundation or a light concealer as it visibly melts into the skin while covering imperfections and redness. Provides even coverage for flawless looking skin that will never look heavy or dry. Moisturizes and heals, resulting in a beautiful second skin.

Please avoid using synthetic and/or chemical laden moisturizers under rms beauty products and opt for a more natural/organic one. rms beauty oil was created to work synergistically with all rms beauty products, especially the "Un" Cover-up.

So.. let's see how it fares in "un" veiling your skin's beauty.

Price: $36 for 5.6 grams!

Shade: 33

About the Brand:
This brand is created by 'Rose-Marie Swift' who was a makeup artist for over 35 years. Her work has been featured in top magazines and ads. Her portfolio includes many famous faces and she has worked with some of the top fashion photographers in the world.

Several years ago, Rose-Marie began to experience some health issues and after an extensive series of tests, she learned that her blood contained toxic levels of heavy metals including aluminum, barium, cadmium, lead and mercury as well as high levels of pesticides and other chemicals.

Rose-Marie was surprised when the technician asked if she worked in the cosmetics industry. Until then she had no idea that cosmetics could contribute to serious health issues. After years of rebuilding her own health, Rose-Marie realized that she wanted to help other women claim their right to healthy beauty. To achieve this goal she created RMS Beauty, her acclaimed line of organic color cosmetics.

Read more about Rose-Marie Swift in detail HERE

White cardboard casing looks so chic!
1. Ingredients on the jar. They are printed in such a faded grey colour, that too on a translucent jar, that they are barely readable unless you have razor sharp eagle vision. :P
2. Ingredients from the outer carton. Thank goodness, these are fairly readable.
Ingredient safety: 100% Safe natural ingredients.

Bio-accumulation/Eco-toxicity: No.

Organic ingredients: Yes.

Certification: No.
#33

Swatch:

Blends seamlessly.

Healthy Dewy Glow.

My Experience: I discovered this product while searching for natural makeup products online and this product had so many rave reviews that i had to buy it ASAP. I bought it from futurenatural.com (which is no more). It comes in a frosted glass jar with white metal lid. This product is supposed to work like a light foundation and also concealer. But, for me, it just did not work in any form. Firstly, because of oils and butters used, it fails terribly to perform in tropical hot weather of India. You can see how it almost melted like butter in the pic above. And no matter how much less i use, it made the face shiny and tacky within few minutes because of the hot and humid weather of Chennai. I tried to set it with a light setting powder but even after 2 applications, the product sucked it up like it had an infinte thirst. Any more and my face starts to look caked up and clogged.

However, i tried it in air conditioned room for a day. It was not as tacky to touch or shiny and my skin looked and felt so healthy, plump and healthily dewy. Hence proved that it is suitable only for cold and dry climates. It applies best when dabbed a tiny amount of it on a small area/spot with fingers and keep patting lightly which makes it melt and blend in to the skin seemlessly. Gives the best 'No-makeup look'! Any other method of application just does not work and if you have a dry spot or flaky skin, it catches and accentuates them. It is nicely saturated with pigment for a makeup product with a natural formulation and also does not contain any kind of shimmer or pearl which most mineral cosmetics usually do. But, since you have to apply as minimal amount as possible, it gives a very light coverage(checkout the red patch on skin in the blended swatch pic) and hence utterly "un" fit for heavily blemished skin. Given the indian climate, there is no scope of layering either. And if you thrown in 'oily skin' to the mix, then it's pure disaster. So, you have to have almost flawless, normal and soft skin to begin with.

Lasting power is not really great either. It lasts for 2-3 hrs in A/C environment and disappears within half an hour or even within few minutes in hot weather.

Shade options are very limited and no.33 was the best match for my medium olive indian skintone. This shade has some yellow undertones but it's still too peachy and warm for my yellow beige skin. But since it is sheer, it blends off with my skin tone nicely. Hence suits anyone with MAC NC 30-35 skintone.

And secondly, this product contains 'coconut oil' as it's main ingredient which ranks very high on the comedogenicity(tendency to cause acne) scale and i've already had bad experience with it in the past. This was no different. It broke me out after just 3 days of continuous usage. There ends the fantasy of "Un"veiling angel skin. Given the hefty price tag, i tried number of ways to make it work but failed each and every time.

The only plus point of this product is that it's made with all natural eco-friendly ingredients without any harmful preservatives.

This product is so ridiculously overpriced for the quantity provided and highly un justified as it contains no fancy ingredients either...just some basic regular ones.

I spent almost 3000/- INR(with shipping) on this and what does it "Un"veil??? Acne? Shiny/Sticky/Clogged up skin? No. Just an Empty credit card!

So, no matter how gorgeous Miranda kerr looks with this on, it's utterly useless even on her if the conditions are not right.

Rating: 4/5 in suitable conditions and 0/5 in unsuitable conditions.

My Conclusion: So, if you have oily skin or live in a hot and humid climate then avoid it like plague. Buy this only if you have almost flawless skin, not allergic to coconut oil and live some place cold and dry. Otherwise, don't even bother. But, please try to get hands on sample first before buying the full size if you can. Get it only if you think you both can justify each other or else, be ready to "Un"veil a hole in your wallet.
